DEDICATION

The class of 1 982 dedicates this yearbook to our
class advisor, Mrs. Reynolds, without whose
support and constant intervention this gradua-
ting class would not be possible. Mrs. Reynolds is
a member of the Math Department of B.H.S., and
her math classes have often been found lending
a hand with various class projects. We wish her
luck with her growing family, and we are sorry
that, due to unavoidable circumstances, we were
unable to obtain a picture of her for our yearbook;
however, even without a picture, we will never
forget Mrs. Reynolds' help. We give her our
heartfelt thanks and sincere best wishes for the
future.

The yearbook staff would like to
extend this dedication to Mr.

McCauley; advisor for the
yearbook, head of the English
Department at B.H.S., and a very
patient person. Thank you for not
firing us for missing our
deadlines, and thank you for
calling Burlington Studios until we
got all our pictures. Good luck
next year.

DON'T LOOK BACK

Don't look back

over your shoulder,

or you'll be caught;

our time is over.
We've had our chance

to grow in safety,

but what's home to us

won't be for long.
The world is waiting,

full of people,

full of pain, ideas, and life.

We feel pushed,
and cling together,
dragging our feet to slow us down.

But as we join as friends,
when before we looked away
to our safe, familiar groups,

We find we form a class,
we share a common bond,
and we realize that each of us

is scared of moving on.

There's courage in that fear,

and the knowledge

that it's shared;
We think we just might

make it after all,
Because "if they can move ahead,

and they're as scared as I am,

maybe life isn't all that bad."

We begin to think,
in fact,

it could be fun.

— Crystia

IN MEMORY

When Miss O'Sullivan, a venerable member of the Bedford High School
language department, died last year, many people mourned her passing. Many
of her Spanish students remember her as a warm, smiling person who never
had a harsh word to say. Her fellow teachers, too, felt a great loss. She had
been a good friend. Somehow the language department seems empty without
her. The preacher at her funeral regarded her as one of the best church
members and certainly the most generous. He also stated that even though
Miss O'Sullivan had died, all that she believed in and worked for lived on, right
next to our happy memories of her.

played the lead role. Also in the play
were: Kenneth Mayer, Barbara Walline,

THE BARRETTS
OF WIMPOLE
STREET

Sitting, left to right: Edward Moulton-Barrett (Adam
Sutton), Elizabeth Moulton-Barrett (Rosanne McHugh),
Bella Hedley (Katie Bryan), Arabel Moulton-Barrett
(Virginia Miller), Henrietta Moulton-Barrett (Judy
Chase), Standing, left to right: Wilson (Mary Ann
Lanier), Robert Browning (John Orlando), Dr.

Monaco), Henry Moulton/Barrett/Henry Bevan (John
Epeneter), George Moulton-Barrett/Captain Surtees
Cook (T.J. Laffan), Septimus Moulton Barrett (Peter
Galipeau).

In December, 1981, the BHS Drama
Club presented The Barretts of Wimpole
Street. Rosanne McHugh, in her first star-
ring role, played Elizabeth Barrett. The
part of her father was played by senior
Adam Sutton, who played Jesus in the
Drama Club's 1981 production of Gods-
pell. The part of Robert Browning, Eli-
zabeth's fiance, was played by John
Orlando. This role was quite a change
from his role in last year's production of
The Wizard ofOz; he played the cowardly
lion. The play was directed by Mr. Vincent
Parella, a member of the English faculty
here at BHS. The members of the year-
book staff wish the Drama Club the best of
luck in years to come.

107

On December 23, 1981, the Bedford
High School Music Department per-
formed a portion of their annual Christ-
mas concert for the students. The choir
performed "Jazz Gloria," a selection they
had been featured doing on Channel 4's
Eyewitness News. The girl's ensembles
performed "Sing Alleluia," the Madrigals
performed " 'Tis the Time of Yuletide
Glee," and the Double Sextette per-
formed "The Twelve Days After Christ-
mas." The combined groups performed
"The Many Moods of Christmas" and,
according to tradition, the "Hallelujah
Chrous." All selections except those by
the Madrigals and Double Sextette alone
were accompanied by the Bedford High
School orchestra. The others were
accompanied by the keyboard talents of
Andrea Lund (Madrigals) and Barbara
Walline (Double Sextette).

HOMECOMING 1981

The brisk autumn breeze broke the tension of the crowd as the royal red
limousine rounded the Bedford High School track. The five charming
Homecoming Queen finalists waited breathlessly for their names to be
called, just moments after the royal ride. "First runner up — Kathy Gural!"
boomed the announcer. Kathy, escorted by her father, received a kiss from
the senior class president, John Zolnay, and from her father as she was
given a flower. Again the air was electric with tension. A new hush passed
over the crowd. "And the new Homecoming Queen is Kathryn Whitney!"
The crowd cheered wildly as the blushing new queen walked slowly fore-
ward to her coronation. (Above, left to right: Kathy Gural, Shelly Nassr,
Kathryn Whitney, Kelli Whitley, and Mary Kay Weiler.)
